Development Concern Initiative (DCI) is a local non-governmental organization (NGO) whose main mission is to promote good governance, peace and sustainable development amongst marginalized communities in the frontier ASAL counties through socio-economic empowerment and resilience building

Development Concern Initiative (DCI) started 03 years as a small Community Based Organization (CBO) registered with the Department of Social Services, Kenya.
Over the years, DCI has grown in size and scope and is currently implementing programs with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union (EU).
The guiding principle of DCI has been and is still “Leaving no man behind” in the pursuit of attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) from a grassroot persepctive. In addittion, the spirit of volunteerismhas been inclulcated in the secretariat to ensure that it stays alive forever
The organization handles resources that go into creating a humane and sustainable environment for vulnerable communities especially the pastoralist and the urban poor. DCI has currently active grants towards achieveing “#SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong instituitions” under a project titled “Enhancing access to justice for somali refugees and ethiopian migrants in Wajir County with support from UNDP and EU.
DCI is finding its way to build a secure and inclusive society through well thought development approaches that are realistic, sustainable and community led. It was formed by a group of professional youth based in Wajir County with currently 4 employees and 8 volunteers. The management of DCI include men and women from different skill sets.
The organisation works under the effective management of Board of Directors. There are 3 directors in the board and the management meets once a year.
In the annual meeting, the board discusses the progress and reviews performance. Transparency and accountability in the management of donor funds are at the backbone of our financial resource mobilization
